Today, the Congressional Hispanic Conference (CHC) held its first press conference of the 119th Congress to discuss the organization's priorities and highlight its efforts to boost representation for Hispanic Americans, both in Congress and across the House Republican Conference.
In February, the Congressional Hispanic Conference elected its leadership as follows:
Rep. Tony Gonzales, Chairman
Rep. Monica De La Cruz, Vice Chair of Communications
Rep. Carlos Gimenez, Vice Chair of Community Outreach
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, Vice Chair of Policy
Rep. Juan Ciscomani, Vice Chair of Member Services
The CHC was founded in 2003 by Hispanic Republican Members of Congress, including Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, to emphasize both domestic and foreign policy issues that have a significant impact on the Hispanic community in the United States. Many members of the Congressional Hispanic Conference serve on the top three “A-level” committees in Congress, known as the House Appropriations Committee, House Committee on Ways and Means, and House Energy and Commerce Committee.
