Rep. Francisco Canseco to Deliver Republican Address to the Nation in Spanish

January 23, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced today that Rep. Francisco Canseco (R-TX) will deliver the Spanish-language Republican Address to the Nation following the President’s State of the Union address on January 24, 2012. Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco is a freshman in the 112th Congress; he was elected in 2010 to serve the 23rd District of Texas. As a champion for fiscal responsibility, he is a rising star in the Republican Party. Born and raised in Laredo, TX, Canseco is a first generation American, the son of immigrants from Mexico. Canseco earned his bachelor's degree and law degree from St. Louis University before returning to Texas. He lives in San Antonio with his wife Gloria and has three children.

“Francisco ‘Quico’ Canseco has been a leader in Congress’ efforts to cut spending, reform government, and create a better environment for private-sector job growth,” said Speaker Boehner. “Our message of more jobs, lower taxes, and smaller government in which small businesses can thrive is one that will resonate with the American people, and Quico is well-suited to outline Republicans’ solutions to the challenges Americans are facing in this struggling economy.”

“The Hispanic community is vital to the future of the United States and as the son of Mexican immigrants, I am honored to deliver the Spanish-language response,” said Congressman Francisco Canseco.
