Congressman Canseco's Statement on May's Jobs Report
June 3, 2011
WASHINGTON D.C.– Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco, a former small businessman and a member of the House Financial Services Committee, released the following statement in reaction to today’s jobs report released by the Department of Labor for the month of May:
““Today’s report that the unemployment rate rose to 9.1% is a sign that the president’s policies of spending our way to prosperity have been an enormous failure. More debt means more uncertainty, and more uncertainty means fewer jobs. The economy is not growing fast enough to replace all the jobs that have been lost. An unemployment rate of 9.1% is unacceptable when there are people in the 23rd District of Texas who are ready and able to work, but simply can’t find a job,” said Congressman Canseco.
““The economy will not begin to show signs of recovery until we get serious about getting runaway federal spending under control, keep taxes low, and promote the expanded production of American energy. This means that we need to be enacting pro-growth economic policies to remove the regulatory burdens imposed by the federal government. Mr. President, it is time to stop the demagoguery, we must begin to create the conditions that will allow private sector job creators to create economic prosperity,” concluded Congressman Canseco.WASHINGTON D.C.– Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco, a former small businessman and a member of the House Financial Services Committee, released the following statement in reaction to today’s jobs report released by the Department of Labor for the month of May:
