Congressman Canseco Visits Sanderson, Meets with Local Officials and Businesses
August 6, 2012
Sanderson, TX - Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco (TX-23), a former small business owner and strong supporter of pro-growth economic policies, spent the day on Sunday in Sanderson where he visited with small business owners and local officials:
“One of the most important ways I stay accountable to the people of the 23rd District of Texas is by traveling to communities throughout the district and talking with constituents firsthand about their needs and concerns. On Sunday, I had the pleasure of spending time in Sanderson and talking with local businesses and residents there,” said Congressman Canseco.
Congressman Canseco’s visit to Sanderson included several meetings with small businesses and local leaders. His first stop of the day was a visit with Judge Flores where Canseco provided the latest legislative updates on issues pertaining to the 23rd District. Canseco then had the opportunity to meet with the CEO of Cactus Health Clinic to discuss the impact of Obamacare on small businesses and health clinics, and the challenges of providing affordable, quality health care in rural areas like Sanderson. “I agree with many of my constituents that Obamacare creates uncertainty for the health care of rural Texans. The 23rd District of Texas is home to numerous rural health care facilities, and I will continue working to protect the ability of residents in rural areas to have access to quality, affordable health care.”
Later, Canseco met with local Dairy King owners Ed and Dora Salmon, as well as restaurant patrons, to discuss the challenges confronting small business owners and how the House of Representatives has passed over 30 job creating bills – which all have yet to be considered in the United States Senate – that will allow the private sector to begin creating jobs again. “These meetings are instrumental for my job as representative of the 23rd District of Texas. The top concern I heard from local businesses was that we need to get the economy turned around and creating jobs, and that to do so we need to get Washington out of the way.”
“I always enjoy the opportunity to meet with the constituents of the 23rd District of Texas. It allows me to take their common-sense feedback with me to the House of Representatives as we work on solutions to get our nation and economy turned around,” concluded Congressman Canseco.
