FAR WEST TEXAS – Republican San Antonio and West Texas Congressman Francisco Canseco was in the area this week meeting with constituents. The congressman made use of his brief recess from Congress to hold town hall-style meetings throughout his district as well as meetings with local elected officials.
Sitting at a small table at Nel’s Coffee Shop in downtown Fort Davis, Canseco sipped coffee with Jeff Davis County Judge George Grubb Tuesday morning to discuss local and national issues. Sitting next to Canseco was one of his district directors, listening intently to the needs of the county judge and scribbling notes as Mr. Grubb spoke.
Canseco, a self-described small businessman has been a lawyer for 36 years, built shopping centers for 22 of those years and was the in-house council for a bank in Texas. In 1995, he helped re-capitalized the Hondo National Bank in Hondo, Texas and served as the chairman of the board.
