Congressman Canseco Encourages 23rd District Residents to Speak Out About a Balanced Budget Amendment

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco (TX-23), a former small businessman and member of the House Financial Services Committee, issued the following statement urging residents of the 23rd District of Texas to express their opinion about a Balanced Budget Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“America Speaking Out is an effort to engage the American people regarding the direction of our nation and listen to what they believe the solutions to the challenges we face are. The ideas that will enable us to successfully overcome the challenges we face are not found in Washington, they are found in the cities and towns across America, and across the 23rd District of Texas. Times are tough, and it’s more important than ever that Washington listen to the wisdom of the American people. We have a spending-driven debt crisis that has us borrowing approximately 40 cents on the dollar, threatening jobs and the future of our children and grandchildren.

I believe we must pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the United States Constitution. American families can’t afford to send more of their hard earned dollars to Washington. Every day, hardworking American families across the country are forced to live within their means and when they look at their budget, they make common-sense decisions on what they can and cannot afford. Washington needs to make these same common-sense decisions in order remove the uncertainty that is holding back our economy and depressing job creation,” said Congressman Canseco.
