Congress Looking at Corruption Within Customs and Border Protection

June 9, 2011

WASHINGTON - Border security is expected to take center stage on Capitol Hill today. CNN reports a senate sub-committee will meet this morning to look at attempts to corrupt Customs and Border Protection and other border agencies.

A South Texas Congressman, meanwhile, is pushing for a federal definition of "crossover and spillover" violence.

Surrounded by Texas border sheriffs yesterday, Congressman Francisco Canseco, a Republican from San Antonio, said he was concerned about what's happening on the other side of the border. Canseco filed a bill last week that would create a federal definition of the term "cross over or spillover" violence. Donald Ray, executive director of the border sheriffs coalition, says the bill will better document border violence.
